The Numbers Up Front
Total Cooked Yield: ~8 oz / 225 g cooked salmon → 6 tacos
Default Portion: 3 tacos (~505 cal, full build)
✂️ Trim Trim Trim
The fish is naturally lean, so the trim happens at the tortilla and the sauce: Carb-Counter tortillas instead of fried shells, and a Greek-yogurt lime slaw instead of mayo-loaded crema. That combo is where a 700-calorie fried-fish-taco plate becomes a 380-calorie one.
Ingredients

Sorted by dish, with the spices you probably already own kept separate.
Salmon
- ◆2 salmon fillets (5 oz / 140 g each)
- ◆1 tbsp olive oil
- ◆1 tsp chili powder • 1 tsp cumin • ½ tsp garlic powder • ½ tsp paprika • salt + pepper
Quick Lime Slaw
- ◆1 cup bagged coleslaw mix • 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt • 1 tbsp lime juice • pinch of salt
To Build
- ◆6 Carb-Counter tortillas (small/medium)
- ◆Hot sauce or salsa to taste
Instructions
- 1
Mix chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- 2
Brush salmon with oil, rub the spice mix firmly over both sides.
- 3
Air-fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 min until the salmon flakes easily.
- 4
While it cooks, stir the slaw mix, Greek yogurt, lime juice, and salt together.
- 5
Warm the tortillas — 20 sec in the microwave, or 1 min in the air fryer at 300°F.
- 6
Flake the salmon into large rustic chunks — don't shred it fine.
- 7
Build: tortilla → slaw → salmon → hot sauce or salsa. Serve immediately.
🧠 Why This Works
Air-frying the spiced salmon gives you crisp edges and big tender flakes without a batter, and flaking it into rustic chunks (instead of fine shreds) keeps each bite meaty. The yogurt slaw does the job of crema — cool, tangy, creamy — at a fraction of the fat, and it only gets better sitting while the fish cooks.
🌶️ Flavor Boosters
Pickled red onion • fresh cilantro • a squeeze of extra lime • avocado slices • the Chipotle Fiesta Sauce instead of plain hot sauce
🔄 Use What You’ve Got
- —Tilapia, cod, or large shrimp work identically
- —No coleslaw mix? Shredded romaine or green cabbage
- —No Carb-Counter tortillas? Any low-carb tortilla, or street-taco corn tortillas (carbs climb)
📦 Meal Prep Notes
Store salmon and slaw separately up to 3 days • Always assemble tacos fresh so nothing goes soggy • Make the slaw first — it improves as it sits
