Sheet-Pan Salmon & Asparagus
One pan, one dinner, one dish to wash. Math checks out.

Lazy-Genius Lore
The whole meal roasts on a single sheet pan while you do literally anything else. Salmon on one side, asparagus on the other, lemon over everything, and cleanup is a piece of foil in the trash. (Adapted from your 18 Seafood Weeknight Meals list — R3.)
Portion Matrix (Cooked Salmon)
Sheet-Pan Salmon & Asparagus
Tap a portion size. Watch the numbers move. That’s the whole book.

The Numbers Up Front
Total Cooked Yield: ~9.5 oz / 270 g salmon + ~10 oz / 285 g roasted asparagus
Default Portion: 6 oz / 170 g salmon + half the asparagus
✂️ Trim Trim Trim
Nothing to trim on the salmon. The oil is split between the fish and the vegetables — 2 tbsp total across a whole dinner for two — so no single component is swimming in it. Lean by design.
Ingredients
Use-what-you’ve-got friendly.
Sorted by dish, with the spices you probably already own kept separate.
- ◆2 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each)
- ◆1 bunch asparagus (~12 oz / 340 g), woody ends snapped off
- ◆2 tbsp olive oil, divided
- ◆1 tsp garlic powder • 1 tsp Italian seasoning • ½ tsp paprika
- ◆Salt + black pepper • 1 lemon, sliced into thin rounds
- ◆Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a sheet pan with foil or parchment.
- 2
Toss asparagus with 1 tbsp oil, salt, pepper, and a pinch of garlic powder. Spread on one half of the pan.
- 3
Place salmon skin-side down on the other half.
- 4
Mix the remaining 1 tbsp oil with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Brush over the salmon.
- 5
Lay 1–2 lemon rounds on each fillet. Add red pepper flakes if using.
- 6
Roast 15–18 min until the salmon flakes easily and the asparagus is tender-crisp.
- 7
Serve straight from the pan.
🧠 Why This Works
Salmon and asparagus happen to cook at the same temperature in the same window, so one pan does both without babysitting. Keeping the two on separate halves means the fish roasts (not steams) and the asparagus caramelizes at the edges instead of going limp in fish juices.
🌶️ Flavor Boosters
Lemon zest over the finished plate • a grated garlic clove in the oil • parmesan on the asparagus in the last 3 min • fresh dill
🔄 Use What You’ve Got
- —No asparagus? Broccoli florets, zucchini halves, or green beans roast at the same rate
- —Snap the asparagus ends instead of cutting — they break exactly at the tender point
- —Add a microwave rice pouch on the side for extra carbs if you want it heartier
📦 Meal Prep Notes
Refrigerate together up to 3 days • Reheat at 325°F (160°C) for the best texture • Great cold, flaked into a next-day lunch salad
